ICAO Language Proficiency Rating failures are career-limiting events that generic English courses cannot prevent. ### ICAO plain language The tutor will practise open-ended communication in non-standard situations, with feedback on structure, vocabulary and fluency — three of the six areas the ICAO scale rates. Non-routine communications — emergencies, diversions, unusual requests — require practised vocabulary that doesn't come naturally under stress. ### Non-routine situations The tutor will drill non-routine situations — a system failure, a diversion, a medical emergency on board — so the vocabulary is there when it matters most. ATC phraseology and pilot standard calls are precise by design; even minor vocabulary imprecision creates ambiguity. ### Listening comprehension Listening practice will train you to pick out the critical information at speed and with precision. This path is built around what the ICAO rating scale assesses — pronunciation, structure, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension and interactions — through plain-language speaking practice and listening at speed. It is preparation, not the rating itself, and Carna makes no promise about the level you will be awarded. ### Will it suit cabin crew as well as pilots and ATC? The speaking practice is plain-language communication under pressure, which cabin crew need as much as the flight deck and ATC. Cabin-crew-specific scenario sets are not something we promise yet. ### Can I use Carna for general English alongside aviation-specific practice? Yes.
