Speaking practice for IELTS Part 2 is nearly impossible to get without booking a tutor for every session. ### Speaking, scored like the exam The tutor will score what you say on the four IELTS speaking criteria — fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, pronunciation — the scoring Carna's engine already runs. Writing task feedback takes days to receive, and one essay is never enough practice. ### Essays on the four descriptors Task 1 and Task 2 essays will be scored on the four writing criteria — task achievement or response, coherence and cohesion, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy — with notes on what to change. Without a reliable estimate, you cannot tell whether you will hit your target band on the day. ### The distance to your band Each scored speaking and writing task will carry a CEFR level and an estimated band. Straight answers, including what the individual tutor can and cannot do yet. ### Will Carna prepare you for IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training? The speaking test and its four criteria are the same for both, and Task 1 and Task 2 writing are marked on the same four writing criteria, so the tutor's scoring will apply to both. Practice sets for the formats that differ, such as Academic Task 1's charts, are not something we promise yet. ### How accurate will the estimated band be? It is an estimate: Carna's engine scores a spoken answer on the four IELTS speaking criteria and an essay on the four writing criteria, and derives a band from those scores. Treat it as directional, not a guaranteed result, and use it to see the distance to your target. ### Can I use Carna alongside a human IELTS tutor? Yes, once the tutor opens.
