What level of English do I need to start?
None in particular. The material runs from A1 to C2, so a beginner and a near-fluent speaker each have somewhere to start, and every score sits on the same CEFR scale.
How is this different from a language app like Duolingo?
Duolingo's strength is short, game-like vocabulary practice. Carna's is the English you use at work: speaking scored on fluency, vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, and writing scored on task, coherence, vocabulary and grammar, all on the CEFR scale.
Can I use Carna on my phone during a commute?
Carna runs in the browser, and its student app is laid out for phones as well as desktops, so a commute or a lunch break can count. The individual tutor is in early access: join the list and we will write when it opens.
